Introducing one of The Centre’s most exciting new offerings - award-winning children’s boutique Petite Beu, where you’ll find children’s clothes and accessories from newborn sizes up to 12 years with budgets to suit everyone and gorgeous style you’ll love.
We spoke to Natalie from Petite Beu to find out a little more about their first few weeks in The Centre.
Your boutique looks amazing! What has the response from The Centre’s shoppers been like so far?
We’ve had such a warm welcome from shoppers at The Centre who adore the range of childrenswear we have in store and the fact that we really do have something to suit all budgets, from affordable accessories to high end brands. We’ve already had some really lovely feedback with a few people sending us pictures of their kids dressed in clothes from our boutique, which we love to see!
At Petite Beu our aim was to make the shopping experience as relaxed and comfortable as possible and we’ve worked hard to create that atmosphere in store. Our boutique has so many personal touches – from our handmade floral décor and luxe seating to our cloud and hot air balloon hanging decorations. We also have everything nicely spaced out which not only showcases the product that we have but it means that customers with buggies can browse easily without bumping in to anything.
There’s such an eclectic mix of brands at Petite Beu, how do you decide what to stock?
Petite Beu is a family business and when we we began our journey we used our passion for kidswear to find some exciting new brands that weren’t widely available in the market.
Everything in store has been hand selected by us to offer people the chance to see an array of beautiful childrenswear brands, all in one place.
We like to have an interesting selection for people to choose from, so we go out of our way to look for brands that are a bit different – from those with a more contemporary aesthetic to ones with a charming vintage vibe.
Esprit and 3 Pommes are both great examples of brands with a more modern feel to them. We have sporty tracksuits from Esprit, long sleeved logo tees that can be worn by both boys and girls and a sweet sequinned jersey dress for £32.50 which offers a cool but comfortable partywear option. 3 Pommes is a new brand for us and their casualwear collection is fun and playful; this season they’ve got some great gilets for girls and I think their tracksuits for boys are really going to be in demand.
For a more traditional look, one of our new brands Patachou is guaranteed to please! Patachou is a Portuguese brand with a traditional European style - offering beautifully simple pieces with the finest attention to detail. We’ve got some gorgeous items in stock in sweet baby blue such as a stylish double breasted coat, made from blue micro-corduroy with a detachable hood and patch pockets. The coat is fully lined in checked cotton for more protection and warmth for your little one.
There’s also Mintini – a brand with a wealth of experience creating traditional baby clothes for children up to 2 years old. Their ranges are delicately executed with a focus on high quality fabrics and subtle embellishments, often in pastel hues and traditional designs which never go out of style. This season, look out for cute coordinating tracksuits, babygros and pram suits in deeper shades of navy, red and an enchanting slate blue.
Petite Beu really is a treasure trove of gorgeous childrenswear, with beautiful wardrobe additions that any little boy or girl would love. Have you had any pieces that have proved particularly popular in the run up to Christmas?
For the festive season people have been looking for luxe statement pieces with the wow factor and our Angel’s Face range ticks all of those boxes, as they often include little touches such as satin trims, lace sleeves, sparkly collars or charms, that really set them apart from the norm.
Angel’s Face is all about timeless clothes that girls will love to wear and we’ve selected some spectacular pieces for the boutique – from gloriously opulent faux fur jackets in rich festive red, from £77, to chiffon party dresses which not only look gorgeous but are soft, tactile and easy to wear.
Their iconic investment piece is the beautiful Pixie tutu made from endless yards of frothy, soft tulle that are tiered and gathered at the hem and finished with a large bow and heart charm detail. It’s now available in store in a classic red tartan, £65, perfect for Christmas. The tutus also come beautifully packaged in a vintage style hatbox for the ultimate classic shopping experience!
What’s lovely is that we’ve had people who’ve bought a Pixie tutu for their little one and they purposely don’t save them for a special occasion; their children have worn them as part of their day-to-day wardrobe and their faces have apparently lit up every time they’ve put them on.
It’s not just girls who want to look their best over the festive season - if shoppers are looking for a special Christmas outfit for boys, the Tommy Hilfiger range includes some lovely shirts, stylish jeans and smart polo shirts in the classic Hilfiger colour palette of navy, red and white. We also stock G-Star RAW for boys - my stand out piece is a trendy olive bomber jacket featuring a subtle logo, low round neck and welted front pockets for £75.
If people are looking for last minute Christmas presents, is there anything new in store that you would recommend?
We’ve got some beautiful winter hats from Pom Pom Envy in store – cosy merino wool knits topped with oversized statement faux fur pom poms. With the cold weather now upon us, they’re flying out of door!
As well as clothing and accessories, we also have some cute baby banks and photo frames in stock which would make a lovely Christmas gift.
Whether you’re shopping for your own little one or buying a gift for a friend our staff are always on hand to answer any questions and give you a few recommendations if you’re running low on gift inspiration!
Lots of the items at Petite Beu would make fantastic gifts for a baby shower or to celebrate the arrival of a new baby - what pieces are people choosing to mark these occasions?
Our luxe baby changing bags have been really popular as gifts for new parents or parents-to-be. We have options in traditional baby blue and baby pink, as well as neutral off white and chic dove grey and, with detailing such as broderie anglaise lace trims, polka dots, ribbons and bows, they have a charming vintage feel to them.
Will the New Year see any exciting new additions to Petite Beu?
Yes, in 2020 not only are we going to be expanding our fantastic selection of brands, but we’ll also be increasing our range of personalised gifts. Our personalised range is already customised to meet the needs of each individual customer, created to a high standard and sprinkled with love, but in the New Year, we’ll have a host of new pieces to choose from.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Petite Beu Facebook and Instagram pages for the latest on our exciting new products.
